Hands of the Week: Straight Flush Over Flush and a Failed Final Table Bluff

Final Hand of the WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov

The WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov Main Event attracted 912 players, and after four days of play, the tournament came to a head in Level 35 (300,000/600,000/600,000) when Simone Lombardo raised to 1.2 million and Andrea Ricci three-bet to 4 million with 16 million behind. Lombardo carefully counted his remaining stack and then moved all-in for Ricci to call with the inferior stack size.

It seemed all but over on the flop as Ricci needed running cards to a straight or flush. He got one of them on the turn and the rail shouted for the four of diamonds. Sure enough, the fell on the river and Ricci’s rail exploded. Both Italian contenders hugged while the chips were counted and Lombardo was left with around 5 million.

Lombardo was still all smiles when he sat back down and Ricci then jammed the button, Lombardo called it off.

The flop gave Lombardo the nut straight and gutshot straight flush draw. Suddenly, Ricci picked up outs on the turn and the magical river completed a miracle runout to eliminate Lombardo. He took home €146,004 while Ricci has earned the WSOP Circuit gold ring and top prize of €236,489.

A Failed Final Table Bluff

In the same tournament earlier on at the final table, it was Level 32 (150,000/300,000/300,000), Ricci limped the small blind with the and Aliaksandr Shylko raised to 900,000 with , which Ricci called. They headed to the flop on which Ricci checked. Shylko made it 500,000 to go and his opponent stuck around.

The appeared on the turn and Ricci checked rather quickly. Shylko opted for a bet of 1.3 million and Ricci pondered about his decision before making the call. With 5.7 million in the middle and 4.5 million behind for Shylko, they headed to the on the river.

Ricci checked the third street in a row and Shylko then emptied the clip by moving all-in.

“Count please,” Ricci immediately demanded and gave it some 30 seconds before making the call. When Shylko tabled his failed bluff, the Italian already started cheering and both players bumped fists. Once Ricci’s pair of nines was exposed, the applause of the Italian rail grew even louder.

Shylko’s run ended in fourth place once more and he earns €79,943 for the efforts.

Final Hand of 2021 Pokercode Festival Bratislava

In the 2021 Pokercode Festival Bratislava €550 Main Event, €125,000 GTD, it was Level 29 (75,000/150,000/150,000) when Tim Van Loo limped from the small blind and Maximilian Silz checked back from the big blind.

Both players checked the flop before pandemonium broke loose on the turn. Silz check-raised from 200,000 to 1,000,000. Van Loo jammed for 4,000,000 and Silz called.

Van Loo had the better flush draw but Silz paired up his deuce. The river completed the board and Maximilian Silz won the inaugural Pokercode Festival Main Event for €23,651 thanks to the heads-up deal, while Van Loo banked €19,395 for finishing runner-up.

“Elkku35” KO’s “sinlun” in Straight Flush Over Flush

In the WCOOP-92-M: $1,050 PLO [6-Max, PLO Main Event], $750K GTD, it was Level 3 (400/800) when a memorable hand took place. It began when “sinlun” took the initiative preflop and three-bet to 9,000 following Adam “pruttzz12” Jonsson‘s open and the call from “Elkuu35”. All three players saw the flop which prompted everyone to check. A fourth heart in the came on the turn, “sinlun” led out for 9,600 which both opponents called again. Then the river saw “sinlun” bet pot to the tune of 56400, Jonsson got out of the way but then “Elkku35” jammed which was called.

“sinlun” flopped the queen-high flush but was thwarted by the steel wheel of “Elkku35” who turned the straight flush as he had the in his hole cards.

Triple Knockout for d’Ursel

In the 2021 GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Event #28: $2,100 Bounty Championship No-Limit Hold’em, it was Level 25 (12,500/25,000/3,000) when “Josue10” raised to 50,000 with some chips behind and Laszlo Molnar three-bet to 125,000, also keeping some chips behind as well. Igor d’Ursel jammed out of the small blind for 815,526 and Ami Barer called all-in for 400,456 in the big blind, as did the two initial players.

The board improved d’Ursel and he knocked out no fewer than three opponents in the same hand.
