Upcoming 2020 Thai Dramas

And before we’ve known it,

October has arrived. 

Ten months of utter chaos has passed us by and we are almost halfway out 2020’s door. While 2020 is almost over — thank everything good and holy — the year is just getting warmer in the Thai drama world. 

Within this article, I am listing down all of the Thai dramas that are currently slotted to air in 2020 and I am personally excited for.

Now please be advised that these dates are privy to change — especially due to our lovely and most favourite personality of 2020, Miss Rona — so these might go from 2020 release to 2021 or later.

Also please be aware that this article is lengthy, so do make yourself a cup of tea or two ≧◡≦. 

Additionally, this article is titled “Dramas” and will thus contain “Lakorns”, “Series”, and “Mixed” dramas. 

If you wish to know the difference between the three types of dramas, do read Brownie’s article on this, she has done a wonderful job explaining what the three are in-depth.

However, for your convenience, I will briefly describe the three. 

Lakorns – ‘Traditional’ dramas made for an older audience. Each episode is usually longer than 1hr 20 mins. 
Eg: Likhit Huajai. 

Series – More youth-centric, ‘modern’ dramas. They are usually timed 20-45 mins per episode, and oftentimes also have many parts or seasons.
Eg: Oxygen The Series. 

Mixed – This is something that you can’t place in one category. It holds elements from both the above categories. Sometimes it is “traditional” and yet it comes in different parts, sometimes it is modern — appealing to the youth — and yet it also has some traditional Thai drama elements.
Eg: Subraburoot Juthathep Series.

Everything was going to be great if she didn’t see Giris (Sean), the brother of Chaithat nad then fall for him at first sight.

Kaew and Chidchanok (Green) are twins who were separated at birth.  Kaew’s been grown in poverty live with her cruel foster mother. The other twin, Chidchanok,  lives with her father in France. 

Both twins do not know of each other’s existence until one-day Chidchanok finds out about her mother’s (who became mentally challenged after delivering the twins) existence and decides back to Thailand to find her mother.  

Eventually meeting, they attach to each other with twin relationship then try to help each other to get away their uncle who is still hell-bent on having the property all to himself.

What does fate have in store for Kaew and Chidchanok? Will they get to live together as a complete family? Will Kaew be able to free herself of the mentality that she’s undeserving of love? ₍₂₎

Fahmai (Supassara) moved into Arthit’s (Mark) house after her parents died. She knew she was going to get kicked out of the house so one day, she set up a plan to get Arthit into bed. Instead, Arthit stormed out of the house and got into an accident. He survived but his hate for her grew.

She was sent abroad for 4 years then 4 years later, she returned because she made a promise to his parents. She thought time will heal all wounds but that wasn’t the case, instead, it intensified even more.

Balam becomes suspicious of her and later he discovers that she is Lomdao, the girl he was arranged to get married to. Slowly, the two fell in love with one another…

Parichat is so mad about what Trin did to her that she made a decision to seek revenge. She comes back to Thailand after studying aboard for many years. Then she begins her plan to reach to Trin.

 Payu (Great) who is Pimpaka (Trin’s wife)’s cousin, tries to stop Parichat’s revenge in order to protect his sister.

After taking the position of inspector at the Crime Suppression Division of Narcotics, Thanat has the opportunity to work together with Wasan in finding drug dealers. They also meet Supika, a talented female police officer. She’s close to Chalanthorn (Boom), a beautiful girl who’s popular in the same social circle as Sia Sunai, who has a background in the drug dealing business. 

Chalanthorn starts working with the police by giving them confidential information, which puts her in danger. Thanat is always by her side to protect her and they develop feelings for each other. The same happens with Wasan and Supika, after going through many dangerous situations together.

This suddenly makes him a target of someone powerful.  As a result of his statement, Dr. Bahnjit has an anonymous man break into his house and threatens him to change the report to suicide. 

Dr. Bahnjit doesn’t take this man’s threat seriously, until one day one of his friends, who is a prosecutor disappears. He begins to secretly conduct an investigation of his own in order to get to the truth — and somehow all clues lead to a man called Tan (Max) as the main suspect. 

Tan, however, denies everything and instead convinces Dr. Bahnjit to work together in order to get to the bottom of this and find the real murderer together.

One day, Tomorn gives his hand to pay a debt for Yuanjai, so she let Tawan marry him as Yhardfah. Because of telling that he hate liar, Tawan starts feeling awkward about this. At Tomorn’s house, she’s always bullied by Sawai, his mother, Gingkaew, the nanny of his sister, and Sopit, his friend who crushes on him.

In the midst of the flames of war, an old noble’s daughter, Sroisabunnga (Baifern) grows up to the teachings of her father to be arrogant of their blue blood and be ambitious in life despite their family being left destitute because of war.  

However, in the dark, Sroi is still fortunate to her candles. A young and kind mill owner, Tine (Nine), comes into her life and quickly attaches himself to her heart.

However, Sroi had promised her father that she would bring Kosum family back to its former glory. Therefore she can not attach her heart to Tine. 

After all, how can a candle give her what she wants? He does not have a proud, old last name. He can not build a palace for you. He is unable to bring her into the high society of the city life. 

However, he is always by her side. Whether times are unhappy or happy, whether she is poor or rich. 

Then… will she stop chasing the dream to obtain the former glory of her family by pursuing Prince Aiyares (Panjan), and finally turn towards Tine instead? ₍₆₎

Poomtai (Son Yuke) works as a government secretary and he’s assigned to repair an old building located not far from his office. There he finds documents, personal belongings, and photographs of Jaokhun Saymamuang (Tik Jesadaporn) and his wife, Lady Pinmuang. 

He decides to transfer the funds to the museum, but suddenly the spirit of Pinmuang appears and stops him. She tells Poomtai the story of her life. 

Pin and Jaokhun fell in love with each other, and although there were difficulties on their way, they still got married. 

7 years later, Pirath, Pin’s childhood friend, comes back from England. They get closer again, and although Pin is now a married woman, Pirath secretly falls in love with her. 

Lady Sae, Jaokhun’s mother, dislikes Pin and tries to match her son with Pragai, her adopted child to be Jaokhun’s mistress. Jaokhun does not particularly mind, but Pin cannot accept this situation.

 Things get worse when Jaokhun goes on a business trip to the province, and Pragai follows him. 

Considering that her husband accepted Pragai as his mistress and forgot about his wife, Pin seeks comfort from Pirath. 

However, Jaokhun mistakenly believes that his wife is cheating on him, driving her out of the house, and divorcing her. The disgraced Pin returns to her mother’s house and stops all communication with Pirath. 

Later, she dies, but her spirit, feeling guilty in front of her husband, stays in their house ready to forgive him and explain everything.
