Korean Drama Update for February 2022

February brought me a couple of fun romantic comedies in the form of To All the Guys Who Loved Me and Wild Romance:

To All the Guys Who Loved Me

To All the Guys Who Loved Me is a mostly light romantic comedy with a dash of fantasy, and it gets more serious in the latter third. The fantasy element involves past lives and our couple being connected over multiple lifetimes.

The drama has a lot of humor that is on the silly side which is something I enjoyed. The plot is pretty basic, but it moves forward slow and steady. Overall, To All the Guys Who Loved Me is pretty standard kdrama fare, but the fun nature of the show with just enough of an engaging fantasy plot combined with actors I really enjoy and and a great OST helped make this a very nice watch. Wild Romance

Wild Romance is a 2012 romantic comedy with a slice of suspense and a serving of angst. It’s a little bit of everything with a unique structure. The first third leans heavily comedic. The middle leans angsty. Then the final stretch dials up the suspense. An interesting combination indeed.

Wild Romance was a nostalgic ride. While I never really loved our main characters and definitely did not care for the first 5 episodes, the rest of the drama was much better and had lots of interesting story and relationship dynamics at play. Comedy, angst, and suspense come together for a wild romance for sure. (Wild Romance Review)
